Death Songs
Chloe Douglass: Human by Civil Twilight
This song reflects her final thoughts in life before she passed away. She accepted her fate without complaint and with very few tears, and realized that this was just a part of life, and sometimes things happen that cannot be controlled.
Alfred Newberry: One Last Breath by Creed
Alfred reflects on all of the things in his life that he could have done better, and asks for forgiveness from his family before he meets his untimely death.
Derek Winchester: The Cold Part by Modest Mouse
By the end of his life, Derek Winchester had pretty much given up on his life by the end of it. Much of what he actually cared about had been taken away from him, so he was ready to say goodbye.
Everly Smith: Born to Die by Lana Del Rey
It is representative of her tragic love for Seth Taylor. The lyrics embody their relationship and her aloneness in it, and how their love was always going to kill them. Everly craved Seth's wildness, and couldn't help but try to make it work even though they both new it was bound to end in tragedy.
Seth Taylor: Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin
Seth led a very difficult life and made many mistakes. The death that he met in the end was his release from all of the sins he had committed, despite how slow and painful it was. He realizes that all along he was his own true enemy, and he asks for forgiveness from all of the people that he's hurt.
Malachi Fulton: Imaginary Enemy by Circa Survive
Malachi died because his son thought that he had turned against him, even though everything was a lie. This song represents his relationship with Chase, and all of the things he would have liked to say to him, had he been given the chance to speak.
Jace Carther: The President by Snow Patrol
Looking back on his life, Jace realized that he was blinded by his own ruthless ambitions and his desire to leave behind a bloody, glorified legacy so that his name would echo into history. As he neared the end of his life, Jace was worn down by all that he'd suffered and all the suffering he'd inflicted, and wished that he had listened to those he loved rather than letting himself spiral further into his insanity and his obsession.
Elle Taylor: And All That Could Have Been by Nine Inch Nails
Elle's death song is about the downfall of her relationship with her long-term boyfriend Ezekial Fray, after he had an affair that tore her apart and ended up sending both recovered addicts into relapse. She sees the whole chain of events as her fault, and in reality it kind of was her fault because even though he was everything she needed in a partner, she wasn't anything that he needed.
Ezekial Fray: Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd
Zeke's whole life was a struggle with substance abuse and addiction. Even after falling in love with Elle Taylor, he found that his self destructive behavior was inevitable and that he couldn't help her or himself no matter what he did. In the end, he found that he accepted death- wanted it. So much so that he killed himself and Elle so that they could end their suffering together.
Nate Taylor: Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve
Nate's life itself was bittersweet- a constant battle of love and pain. He had a family he loved more than anything and could even be remembered as a hero. However, the bitter outweighed the sweet in his case. His existence was littered with torture, war, enemies, and death. Unable to protect his beloved family, he took his own life in the end.
Kita Reeves: Putting the Dog to Sleep by The Antlers
Kita led a rough life, being loved and being left alone in death by three men. She lost her true love when he was supposedly killed in a war, only to lose a pregnancy and then get dragged into Seth Taylor's downward spiral when he got her pregnant again. She loved her son, Niko, terribly but nothing could fix her when she lost Seth, Kian, and then Alistair as partners. She was eventually reunited with Kian, but the happiness was short lived when he got caught in a landslide, and refused to leave him to die alone again, going with him this time. The song shows her inner fear of being left alone, to die and suffer as she lived. Alone.
Beauregard Larkson: Won't Give Up By Colony House
Bo led a life of anger and demons he just couldn't seem to shake. Stemming from a troubled past, he never properly learned to cope and was prone to lashing out in violent ways, often resulting in killer intent. One such episode resulted in him killing Anya Volkof's father, which ended up in a long separation. But hope seemed to spring anew when she forgave him, although Bo never could forgive himself. After losing Anya to a murderous rogue, all hope seemed lost for Bo. Then, he met Colette Fray, and it seemed he had a chance for a new beginning. But it never came, and even though he struggled constantly beneath the weight of his past mistakes and losses, he never gave up. Even at the abrupt end of his life, he was hoping for a better tomorrow.
